About Environmental Systems Testing Services
Environmental Systems Testing Services was founded in Conway, South Carolina in November 1980 by Lana Fortson. It started out providing laboratory services as well as drinking water and wastewater collection, monitoring and analyses. In 1986, her husband, Bob Fortson, joined the business and added the chlorination division. He was the first person in Horry County to utilize the continuous feed method and provide a service that packaged water main chlorination as well as the water samples.
In March of 1998, their daughter, Kellah Fortson Webster, joined the business in the lab and helping run the business operations. Their son, Gage Fortson, came on board in field operations in August of 1998. Kellah became the Lab Director upon Lana’s retirement in 2002. Gage became the Director of Field Operations upon Bob’s retirement in 1989. Gage has since developed a patented system for chlorination.
Since its inception, Environmental Systems Testing Services has done studies for the EPA and chlorinated projects all over the Southeast. We were the first, and continue to be the oldest, SCDHEC certified independent laboratory in South Carolina.
